Reconstructing I

Reconstructing I is a series of 20 sculptures by Sao Sreymao, crafted from wire, white cement, and photographs taken in northern and southern Cambodia. Some images are hand-painted onto the sculptures, each uniquely shaped and sized. For the first time, Sreymao explores new techniques, working with construction materials and image transfer methods. Both poetic and haunting, the works depict disappearing communities along rivers, mountains, and coastal areas affected by human-driven environmental degradation. Drawing from personal memories and observations, Sreymao transforms the fragility of shifting landscapes into compelling narrative sculptures.
